Hello everyone,

What is the easiest way to make a referenced file plot at 50% black when some of the objects in the referenced file are set as color-by-object (No- I did draw the architectural drawing with color-by-object!)? I am trying to limit my time fixing these drawings. I am overlaying conduit layouts and I want the referenced file at 50% to make my drawing easier to read.

Typically when all the colors are done by layer, I simply set the layers of the referenced file to color 253 and have an appropriate color dependent plot style that plots color 253 at 50% black, but this does not work when some objects colors are not done by layer.

Thanks!

Jacob

Hi and welcome!

How big would the damage to your referenced drawing be if you just select everything and put it to "by layer" and then reload your xrefs.

This would be the easiest way I think. But only when the colors by layer and by block is not to different.

Thanks for the welsome,

In the past I have done that, but i always thought there had to be a better way. I can do that if I have to, but if i could maintain the colors I would.

Also, last ime I did that it did not fix blocks that had color by object.

Thanks!

This is where STB format is very useful. Since the STB doesn't care what color the objects are, one has control over the printed output through plot style names.

I realize this doesn't help you with your immediate need, but it is food for thought for the future.

Thanks for the replys! This is sort of what I suspected. If anyone comes up with a batter way, please let me know.

At one point, I thought i remember finding a command to change colors in all blocks contained in a drawing from object to layer, but i can't seem to find it now. Am I losing my mind or does this exist?

Thanks Again!

Jacob
