rustysilo Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 Is there a way to modify the "rules" of the select similar? When I do a select similar it selects objects I really don't want. I'm trying to avoid using qselect since select similar is quicker. Quote
ReMark Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 I thought this was the criteria for the use of Select Similar: "To use this command, select a single object, then right-click and choose SELECTSIMILAR this would select ALL objects of the SAME type on the SAME layer." I don't understand how when you use it, objects that you don't want are being selected. Could you elaborate? What object did you pick? What objects did the command select? Quote
rustysilo Posted January 20, 2009 Author Posted January 20, 2009 I guess what I'm wanting is to give select similar more qualities as qselect would allow. So say if I just want all lines on layer "bob" that are also the same color. Quote
dbroada Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 this post got me intrigued. What is SELECTSIMILAR? Its something I've never used as I didn't know it existed. I've now looked in the help file and I'm none the wiser. Quote
Siberian Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 Its something I've never used as I didn't know it existed. I've never seen it in AutoCAD classic (although I'm still using 2008 ), but I use it in MEP all the time. Quite handy Quote
ReMark Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 Dave: It is not included in plain AutoCAD. You can stop looking. Quote
dbroada Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 ahh, thanks both - I'm not as stupid as I thought. Quote
ReMark Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 Dave: If you want to add the command to plain AutoCAD here is a link that provides the code: http://mistressofthedorkness.blogspot.com/2006/07/i-know-how-to-pick-em-selectsimilar.html Quote
