Hi all, I am having trouble with the chamfer command and angles. No matter what angle or distance I put in the command line, I always get a 45 degree angle for my chamfer. I am at a loss with this. Please, any help would be appreciated......

This worked for me:

Command: chamfer

(TRIM mode) Current chamfer Dist1 = 0.0000, Dist2 = 0.0000

Select first line or [undo/Polyline/Distance/Angle/Trim/mEthod/Multiple]:

Base surface selection...

Enter surface selection option [Next/OK (current)] : OK

Specify base surface chamfer distance: 4

Specify other surface chamfer distance : 1

Select an edge or [Loop]: Select an edge or [Loop]:

Command:

Note: the default for the second distance is always the same as the first. So if you put one distance in and hit enter twice, you will always get a 45 deg angle. You must put in a value, hit enter then put in a second (different) value and hit enter again.

Hope that clears things up for you.

Command: _chamfer

(TRIM mode) Current chamfer Dist1 = 0.5000, Dist2 = 0.5000

Select first line or [Polyline/Distance/Angle/Trim/Method]: A

Specify chamfer length on the first line : 1

Specify chamfer angle from the first line : 23

Select first line or [Polyline/Distance/Angle/Trim/Method]:

Select second line:

Done

Work fine for me, I think you need to read command line

Hi, I dont use chamfer too much, but I tend to only specify the two distance points without and problem. Try just specifying two distances, 1 and 10, and see what you get. Do you need a specific angle or can you work out that as two distances?

so it turns out that since I actually use Architecture 2008, but us the regular AutoCAD within it, I needed to use my "method" option. Once I changed this to whatever shape I was drawing, it all worked out.

thanks,
