So i have an egg shape and i want to carve a mouth out of it. now in AutoCAD i would use the subtract tool. but i cant find a tool called that in Maya, so im wondering is there a tool in Maya i would need to acheive this?

my two objects in using are a egg shape and a sort of bowl shape halfway inserted in the egg to create a mouth shape.

They are both surfaces, not polygons

Not sure about Maya, but with Max you do this with a Boolean operation. Check the Maya Help files to see if there's any info regarding Booleans.

Also, check out THESE tutorials as well as the ones that came with the program. Like Max, Maya ships with a full assortment of tutorials.
