When I do a 3D solids subtract it looks great then I save the project I was working on and the next time I open the drawing the project is back to the way it was before I did the subtract.

Thanks for any help

"the project is back to the way it was before I did the subtract."

How so? You mean all the geometry is unchanged?

Maybe you called up a duplicate drawing?

Not really sure how to explain it. I have a 3d solid that I am trying to remove sections of. I draw the shape that I want to remove. When I subtract it the solid looks correct. I save the drawing and then the next time I open the solid that I was working with is now had the parts that I tried to remove and they are joined to the shape.

What visual style are you using when you do all this?

I'm not sure how one goes from subtract a solid from another solid, save drawing, open drawing, and then have the two solids show up joined instead. Sounds like magic to me.

How did you verify the subtraction worked in the first place?

Maybe you had dupilcate solids?

I am working on redrawing it. It is a weird one for sure.

No dup solid and after I did the subtract I rotated the view to make sure it did what I wanted it to do. I looked correct. I could do a redraw the it was correct. Then the next time I opened the drawing it had all of the solids back.

When you "saved" the drawing you didn't actually use "save as" and save it under a different name?

Wild guess. You have only "read rights" to the drawing.

I just got done redrawing it and it seems to be working.

I like these self-correcting problems. Saves wear and tear on the brain's synapses. Thanks for the update.

I'm having this problem now. The interesting part is that when I do a pdf of the correct drawing it comes out with all the extra solids. It seems as if the subtract solid is only partially happening.

Turn solidhist off before starting. In the future if you see this behavior attach the file here and I can fix it for you.

You may try to set DELOBJ to 1. If set to 0, it will force AutoCAD to keep booth of solids... I think. Sorry, I write from memories: I can't check my solution right now.
