Jez(UK) Posted February 5, 2009 Posted February 5, 2009 Hi there, whenever I start a new drawing and start creating my building shell, I soon after drawing a few lines need to zoom extents (as no building I draw is that tiny). Is there a setting which sets my default x,y drawing limits in modelspace for a new drawing so that the extent of my screen at commencement will be large enough to not require me to zoom extents (e.g. set x, y limit to be around 25000, 20000 roughly) Thanks, Jez Quote
dbroada Posted February 5, 2009 Posted February 5, 2009 I would add a "frame" to my main dwt file, zoom extents, remove the frame and save the dwt file. At least that's what I've done here to make my default A2 sized. Quote
BIGAL Posted February 6, 2009 Posted February 6, 2009 Very easy Zoom All goes to what you have set as your drawing limit. Zoom extents zooms out to the size of your drawing objects if you have not specified your limits zoom all and extents will give the same answer. Just type Limits and set it to what you want Quote
BIGAL Posted February 6, 2009 Posted February 6, 2009 Bit extra I normally set the limits on my layout tabs to the size of the sheet of paper eg 841x594 36x24 I will be plotting on and as above draw at least a frame. This allows then to open modelviews and have an idea of how much of the sheet they are using for a given scale. Quote
Jez(UK) Posted February 6, 2009 Author Posted February 6, 2009 Dbroada, thanks for that, I've done that to my templates and that's sorted that side out ! To BigAl, thanks for the Limits command, I'd forgotten about that - but I'll still have to type Limits at the start of every new drawing (when not using a Template which is already sorted via the solution Dbroada gave). dbroada Posted February 6, 2009 Posted February 6, 2009 most of my drawings fit on an A2 so my default template has a 5mm grid, a 2,5mm snap, limits set and zoomed to A2. I'm one of the few here that use those commands! Quote
