How to slice and dice a gear?

I am using a set of bevel gears created by design accelerator in an assembly. I have edited them using sketches and extrusions based on geometry in the assembly, they are now sectors with mounting holes. Now I need to save them as new parts, but when I try all I can get is the original gears. How can I save them with the edits in place?

Sounds like you added cuts at the assembly level (match machining) rather than the part level. You should have right clicked on the part and select Edit or Open and then edit.
Zip and attach what you have so far.
