slapeto Posted February 6, 2009 Posted February 6, 2009 Hi, I am trying to digitize a section of a wall from a drawing, but in 3D. I have layers in orthogonal position and now I need to digitize sections which are perpendicula to these layers/plans. I am using autocad 2007. I don't know how to get the drawing to the right location so it would stay perpendicular and I don't know how to digitize it using 3D polyline. I have tried the 3d polyline, but it would not let me draw in the location where i have set it. I have all the coordinates i need, but i don't know which tools to use to get the drawing to the right location and digitize it. I have never worked autocad this way and I would welcome any help. Thanks Quote
rgarjr Posted February 6, 2009 Posted February 6, 2009 Dont know if you can digitize in 3d, since it'll only draw on the XY plane. Quote
ReMark Posted February 6, 2009 Posted February 6, 2009 What are you using as a digitizer? Yes, there are 3D digitizers. Some look like articulated arms. Here's an example: http://www.immersion.com/digitizer/ There are also 3D hand-held scanners as well. Quote
slapeto Posted February 7, 2009 Author Posted February 7, 2009 Thanks for replyes. I am not going to use digitizing tablets. AutoCAD is good for what i do. I am digitizing a site plan and part of it is a wall section. I am pretty sure it is possible to digitize this wall section in a manner I have described. I just don't know how. Well, if I come accross it, I will be sure to post it. If I was wrong, I will let you know as well. Cheers Quote
BIGAL Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 If you just want to show a wall as a 3D solid object then its pretty easy just set "Thickness" as the height of the wall. You draw in the normal plane lines or plines via x,y etc but your actually creating very simple 3D also type Vpoint 1,1,1 and you will see your 3D use Hide and image will appear true ie can not see through walls.
