Trisha Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 I have a drawing in 1:1. I want to cut out a detail on this drawing and make it bigger by using the scale-tool, but I don`t want to change the measures that I have placed on the drawing. Is this possible? (Hope you understand what I mean, my english is not that good:roll: ) Quote
Tankman Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 Sure, copy what you require, and override the dimensions for the takeoff. Quote
Trisha Posted February 9, 2009 Author Posted February 9, 2009 Hmm... can you explain? I have to copy all the measures on the drawing, and use the override-tool before I scale the drawing? I have tried but I must have done something wrong:/ Quote
MaxwellEdison Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 After scaling, select all of the dimensions you scaled and edit their properties together. Under the Fit heading, change the Dim scale overall by the reciprocal of the scale factor you used (i.e. if you scaled it to twice its original size, multiply dim scale overall by half). Then do the same with the Dim scale linear under the Primary Units heading. Alternatively, you can keep everything the full scale in model space and create a seperate viewport in your layout. If you want the detail to be a specific shape, create a closed polyline of the shape desired. Then enter -VPORTS into the command line (the '-' disables the dialog box) and O to clip to an object. Select the closed polyline you created and it will be converted into a viewport. You can then set its scale and do your dimensioning and annotations overtop with your Dim scale overall set to 1 and Dim scale linear set to your scale factor (a scale of 1:100 means a scale factor of .01). Search the help files for any terms in bold or italics. Quote
