jeppo Posted March 1, 2009 Posted March 1, 2009 Hello I am new to autocad, i have the 2006 version and my problem is that i received a set of plans from a architect for me to add the electrical schematics too. but the plans present themselves on screen at an angle. can i move the whole plan so that the layout is "horizontal" to the page. fuccaro Posted March 1, 2009 Posted March 1, 2009 You can rotate them with the desired angle. Use the ROTATE command. Welcome in the forum! Quote
ReMark Posted March 1, 2009 Posted March 1, 2009 You can also leave the plan "as is" and realign the crosshairs using the SNAPANG command. When your work is done invoke SNAPANG once more and reset the angle to 0 deg. I too extend a warm welcome to CADTutor. Quote
lpseifert Posted March 1, 2009 Posted March 1, 2009 or... UCS > OBject (select object you want the view aligned with) Plan > Current if you're in a viewport, it needs to be unlocked Quote
ReMark Posted March 1, 2009 Posted March 1, 2009 Just reorient everything before sending back to the architect. Quote
Cad64 Posted March 1, 2009 Posted March 1, 2009 Just reorient everything before sending back to the architect. Definitely reorient everything before sending your file back, otherwise you're going to have a very angry architect on the phone. I would actually recommend aligning the view and working inside a viewport. That way you don't have to mess with anything in model space and you don't have to worry about reorienting the view before sending your file back. But that's just my opinion. Quote
AlinOz Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 With you all the way CAD64!!! Try not to reorient any drawing you have been supplied by others - ALWAYS retain their origin and orientation and everyone's life will be easier. Alter your View of their drawing as per Ipseifert's suggestion Can I suggest that you go the next step and look into XREFing the Architects drawing into yours? That way you can't accidentally edit his drawing and if he supplies an updated drawing, you can then just reload the new one as the background. That being said, he can then XREF your drawing into his without all his Drawing coming back to him... Lots of benefits to this methodology (including reduced File Size) Quote
