Is it just me or are there others out there that want to do 3D Dynamic Blocks? 2D is perfect for the majority of the Blocks I deal with, but I'm sure I'm not alone in sometimes wanting to be able to have some form of Dynamic controls in the Z too.

The Block editor is a great tool, but with Autodesk wanting to push the 3D aspect of their software out to the marketplace, why is it that they persist with a 2D Block Editor? 2010 looks like a promising release with the addition of Parametric drawing tools, but one must ask if they should be ploughing ahead with these types of functions when the underlying interface is missing the third dimension. When & if they do implement a 3D Block Editor, it will mean another revisit to those blocks that can use this feature (and I'm getting tired of updating hundreds of blocks to adopt the new features)

Any spys from Autodesk snooping around in here for future ideas? (I hope so)...

Hands up guys - who wants a 3D Block editor???

Oh I definitely want a 3D dynamic block. I've managed to cobble together some dynamic blocks with 3D objects in them, You can still rotate, array and scale...just no stretch, so that kinda works if you need all the parameters on one side.

At this point I'd settle for multiple visibility states. The lookup workaround is so difficult to set up and nearly impossible to edit.

No prizes from the second shelf here - it's go for broke for the Top shelf and 3D Block Editor:wink:

It's tiring to see the same old underlying problems rolled out with new frilly bits plugged on top - Autodesk, forget the frilly bits and get back into the core code. Sort that out and then you can start churning out the fancy stuff again.

FYI, from reports I've heard from some coding gurus, there is still some old Code from the first AutoCADs floating around in the latest software. Apparently, they can't replace some of it because they can't replicate the functions it can do (so much for the big R14 sales pitch- completely rewritten from scratch). That doesn't fare well for the new fangled programmers who only know how to code internet stuff... Back to some solid core functions guys.
