Outmaw_Lynx Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 --------------------------------------------------------- Hello again, I've finished my first drawing (), and I actually don't want to print it on paper but having it as an image file. I found somewhere something that saves my drawing as .bmp, but the file that is created seems to not work, its size is actually 0. Any idea how to solve this problem ? Thanks -------------------------------------------------------- Problem solved.. BUT ! There's another problem now : My picure's dimensions are around 1000x500, but the drawing itself is in the center and really small comparing to the whole picture, it would be even less than 500x250, a lot of place is wasted and I'd like to choose where the picture starts and ends (see what I mean ?) because if I print it on a A4 sheet (it'll be added in a Word file later), we won't see anything, or the zoom will mess it up. How could I change that ? Thanks Ps: about the previous problem, I don't know how this happened but I know how to solve it. I actually have to save another .bmp file, and once this new one is created, the previous one is available (and the new one becomes the ones that doesn't work. ^^) Quote
Cad64 Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 Does it have to be an image file? You could try the JPGOUT command. Why don't you just print it to pdf? Quote
Outmaw_Lynx Posted March 7, 2009 Author Posted March 7, 2009 Yes, I'd like an image file. I haven't seen any options to save it as a .pdf, there's only .bmp and other ones like dwg, dwf, wmf and wtf are those. I tried the jpgout command, but that doesn't solve my problem, it's still the same picture but lower quality Quote
Cad64 Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 You don't save to pdf, you print to pdf. Really? you don't know what dwg is? From the Autocad Help Files: WMF (Windows metafile format) files are frequently used to produce clip art and other nontechnical images that you need for drawings. You can insert a WMF file into a drawing file as a block. Unlike bitmaps, WMF files contain vector information that can be resized and printed without losing resolution. If the WMF file contains 2D solids or wide lines, you can turn off their display to increase drawing speed. WMF files can contain both vector and raster information. However, the program uses only the vector information from a WMF file. When a WMF file containing raster information is imported into the program, the raster information is ignored. DWF You can use the program to create Design Web Format (DWF) files. A DWF file is a 2D vector file that you can use to publish your drawing on the World Wide Web or an intranet network. Each DWF file can contain one or more drawing sheets. DWF files can be opened, viewed, and plotted by anyone using Autodesk® Design Review or Autodesk® DWF™ Viewer. With Autodesk Design Review or Autodesk DWF Viewer, you can also view DWF files in Microsoft® Internet Explorer 5.01 or later. DWF files support real-time panning and zooming as well as control over the display of layers and named views. Quote
Outmaw_Lynx Posted March 7, 2009 Author Posted March 7, 2009 (am back.) Thanks for the info However I still can't solve my problem :/ Quote
Outmaw_Lynx Posted March 8, 2009 Author Posted March 8, 2009 I just made a .pdf, it's worse than on bmp pictures ^^. Without any zoom, the drawing appears about 5 times too small, and we can't read anything. Is there a way to enlarge the whole picture (the main file, .dwg) ? Maybe if i can multiply everything by 10, it'll make me a huge bmp picture but that I can at least reduce after. Quote
kencaz Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 If you use either JPGOUT or Export as .BMP Autocad will take a picture of the current view you have in model space. So, within model space, Zoom until you have the size of the image you want to capture, then Export and select all objects. KC Quote
Outmaw_Lynx Posted March 8, 2009 Author Posted March 8, 2009 Oh, yeah. That works. Thanks But.. fortunatly, my drawing is small enough, but what if I wanted a bmp picture with, let's say, 5000x5000 ? Would I have to get a lot of "screenshots", one by one, and all paste them in one file on Paint ? ^^ Quote

You can plot from model space and choose "PublishtoWeb JPG.pc3". You can add custom paper sizes under properties such as, (5000x5000), and then select to plot to your custom paper size. Remember to change the Plot Area to "Extents" to plot the full drawing not just the displayed portion. KC Quote
