tolly2627 Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 hello, im in the midst of drawing elevations in autocad. i've already produced a 3d model in 3ds max, is there a way to use the viewports of 3ds, as an underlay or guide for me to trace over in autocad? thanks Quote
Cad64 Posted March 14, 2009 Posted March 14, 2009 Well, with Max open, you could just hit "Print Screen" on your keyboard. Then open Photoshop, or Gimp or Paint or whatever image editing program you have and hit Ctrl+V to paste into a new document. Then you could SaveAs jpg format and Insert that image into Autocad to trace over. Quote
Cad64 Posted March 14, 2009 Posted March 14, 2009 Actually, a better way would be to render out an image of each viewport with Mental Ray using the mental.ray.hidden.line.contours preset. This will give you contour line images of your model which would be much better for tracing. This will also give you much higher resolution images to use for the tracing. Quote
