ALoock Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 Hi Everyone! I have created a few blocks that I will need on a daily basis, all good. But now I have a new drawing and when I go to 'insert block', the new blocks are not listed there. Is there somewhere where I can change a setting? How do I get the blocks available on all my drawings? Quote
ReMark Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 Have you tried using the Browse button in the Insert dialog box? Quote
ReMark Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 "How do I get the blocks available on all my drawings?" One method would be to create a new Tool Palette with all your blocks on it. Then it would simply be a matter of dragging and dropping the blocks into the drawing you are working on. Quote
Peter K Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 Or the other way would be to make a template drawing which contains all the blocks that you want to use. Only recommendable when there's a very limited selection of blocks that you actually want to have on hand for a series of drawings because in most cases you'll be burden down the drawing with contend that you don't need even before you start drawing. The best way would be to actually create a 'tool palette'(CTRL+3) or by using the 'Design center' (CTRL+2). Quote
dbroada Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 I use the palette system for my most common blocks but another way is to ensure all the blocks you want are in folders on your searched path. That way you can type the block name into the dialogue box and have it found. This only really works for short block names! Quote
ALoock Posted March 12, 2009 Author Posted March 12, 2009 Thanks guys! I'll try the advice tomorrow, right now I'm dead on my feet and going home. Quote

I am working on AutoCAD LT and do not always know where it limits me. (and on your first comment, what is a Insert Dialog box?) Quote
Peter K Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 Two ways I can think of, of the top of my head : 1) Do a CTRL+3 to open toolpalette and do a right mouse click on one of the tabs of any toolpalette. It should give you the option to create a blank toolpalette. Once you have a blank one then you can just drag&drop any blocks on to it 2) Open the designcenter (CTRL+2) and browse to the folder with your blocks in it. If you do a right mouse click on the folder then it gives you the option, amoung other things, to "create a toolpalette of blocks" Quote
