jimmymaiden Posted April 6, 2009 Posted April 6, 2009 As i'm new on rendering, i don't know things very well! I have designed a concert stage with stage sets for the band etc etc! So...i'm asking if someone could help me with little easy steps on how to render at AutoCAD 08! I actualy want to use my own matterials (i have the images i want) so i need help on that as well! I mean how to create new matterials! I tried to render a little piece of my work, on a box actualy, but i wanted just one face of the box to have the matterial i choosed! Instead the matterial was applied on the whole box! So if some of you could help me with easy steps on how to rendera bit in AutoCAD 08 i would really really appriciate it! Thanks in advance, -Jimmy. Cad64 Posted April 6, 2009 Posted April 6, 2009 If you just want to apply a material to one face of an object, hold down the Ctrl key and click on the face where you want the material to be applied. Also, in the Material Editor, always leave the first material slot open. This is your default material for all objects. If you set up a material in that first slot, then it will be applied to all objects in your scene. Quote
Bill Tillman Posted April 6, 2009 Posted April 6, 2009 I'm sure there are lots of members who will gladly offer assistance. As for the box you want to only show materials on one side, my thinking is you would have to draw it in no less than two objects. This way you could assign the materials to just the face you're wanting, others may know of a different procedure. As for rendering, plan on taking your time. There are several different ways to apply materials. Would have to see what you're working on to answer in more depth. I got my feet wet on this by reading tutorials and experimenting with different methods. Quote
jimmymaiden Posted April 6, 2009 Author Posted April 6, 2009 Cheers guys! Well i'm going to post some screenshots tomorrow to see what i have designed so far! Not rendered of course! Quote
ReMark Posted April 6, 2009 Posted April 6, 2009 I'm starting to favor placing materials by layer. Haven't tried placing materials on a single face. Quote
