P_c Posted April 15, 2009 Posted April 15, 2009 Gday, Is it possible to have two screens set up with model space on one and layout space on another? Im guessing the answer is no but i thought i would try anyway. Cheers Quote
Caddy79 Posted April 15, 2009 Posted April 15, 2009 I just tried it and yes it is possible but not practical; I opened a second instance of CAD and opened the drawing again in "read only" mode. I tried to take a screen shot of this however there was not enough memory available to paste the screen shot to ms paint. I hope someone else is able to come up with a better solution than I have. I will also have to do some tests to find out if the "read only" layout will update with the model being manipulated in the other instance of CAD. Quote
P_c Posted April 15, 2009 Author Posted April 15, 2009 Thanks. Oh well, maybe a good thing for the wish list. Quote

Cad64 Posted April 15, 2009 Posted April 15, 2009 Thanks. Oh well, maybe a good thing for the wish list. Why do you want to do this? If you want model space side by side with your paper space layout, then just create another viewport next to your layout. Quote
Tiger Posted April 15, 2009 Posted April 15, 2009 Plus if you have your viewport locked, you can work as normal in Model Space through the Viewport..or like Cad64 said - do a larger viewport next to your proper layout and work there, then you can see it all at once. With two screens, you can have AutoCAD stretch over both screens so you should be able to see bit viewports clearly. Quote
NH3man! Posted April 15, 2009 Posted April 15, 2009 If you are looking for more work space yes you can do it. But will depend on your graphics cards ability. I am able to stretch mine over onto my projector screen and make more veiwports there. This would work quite well if both monitors were the same size and resolution. edit: After rereading your post you I was not able to do what you wanted but the effect would be similar if you set you new viewport to look like your model.
