using file link into max, and my curved panels come out segmented, sort of like how curved items are in autocad before you hit viewrez.
the panel is 1m high and is about 1.3m wide with a 1.9m radius.
what setting in file link or max have i missed.
thanks

Try this, in AutoCAD type REGEN and that will bring the curve back to its normal look

Cadmaster, this is a 3DS Max question, not an Autocad question.
Gcp, unfortunately I woke up this morning to find my secondary hard drive has died and taken all of my programs and content with it, so I can only go from memory right now.
There are options in the File Link Manager that allow you to tell Max how to handle the models imported from Autocad. You just have to dig around in there to find them. If you can post some screen shots of your import options I can try to walk you through it, but that's the best I can do until I get my computer issues sorted out.
I hate days like this.

been battling all day wth this blasted thing. all i want is it to look like my acad model, smooth.
smoothing modifier does nothing, and i am fast out of ideas. searches around the internet have come up zilch.

I will post back once I get to the office and have a look at the "Link Manager" settings.

Glad you got it sorted. Below are my Link Manager settings. You can increase the "Curve Steps" and decrease the "Surface Deviation" for smoother results.

yeah, i think it was "operator head gap adjustment" :P
i think i missed the preset drop down after making the changes and then the file never imported with the new settings, hence me loosing the plot, then hitting the help section and then finally realizing what i had not done.

It's looking pretty good. You might want to turn the self illumination up on the image maps though, to make them brighter.
What is this for anyway? Are you designing a booth for a convention?
