sanshef Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 Hi All, I work on Autocad Map 3D 2008. If I click on a map having various layers,I want it displayed in the layer window at top?How do I get it? In this case I can go to properies and get the layer. But is there any command to get it directly? Thanks, sanshef Quote
JoeC Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 Is your Layers toolbar visible at the top of Acad? Quote
sanshef Posted April 24, 2009 Author Posted April 24, 2009 Hi Joe, Yes layers toolbar is visible at top.... Sanshef Quote
JoeC Posted April 27, 2009 Posted April 27, 2009 Maybe I'm misunderstanding your question, but when you click on an item, the layers toolbar should display the layer the item resides on. Of course you could always use the LIST command to tell you the layer of the item also. Did this help you? Quote
sanshef Posted April 29, 2009 Author Posted April 29, 2009 Hi, I mean the Layer Property Manager which is on the top of the autocad screen...it shows only current layer. Is there an option that if I click on any other object,it will show the layer of that object? Thanks, S Quote
JoeC Posted April 29, 2009 Posted April 29, 2009 In my system, if I click on an item, the layers toolbar DOES show the layer that the item is on. I have attached a quick test drawing for you to see if yours reacts the same. The current layer is "0". If you select the red circle, the layers toolbar should display layer "Test" (the layer that the circle "lives" on). Try it and let me know. Test.dwg Quote
rkent Posted April 29, 2009 Posted April 29, 2009 Maybe you have a layer filter set in Layer Manager Properties. Open that and set the layer filter to All and try again. Quote
JoeC Posted April 29, 2009 Posted April 29, 2009 A previous thread said to type PICKFIRST and change the variable to 1. Give that a try! I think that may do it! Quote
sanshef Posted April 29, 2009 Author Posted April 29, 2009 Hi Joe & Kent, Thanks...The last option of pickfirst worked out.... Thanks again as it saves a lot of time fo rme rather than checking eah layer in properties box.... Have A Good Day!! S Quote
