MisterJingles Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 I have an A0 drawing in paper space but its on another companys' plotframe. I need to move the viewport in that plotframe into my company plotframe which I need to plot in A1. I have pasted my plotframe into the same layout and am trying to do it there, correct? How can I fit that viewport into my plotframe without affecting the scale of the drawing? Regards Rob Quote
Tiger Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 First off all, I would not use the other companys drawing. I would start my own drawing, with my own template and settings and such. usually, all kinds of trouble can be avoided by using your own template from the start. I would use X-ref to get the other drawing into my own. Then it would be easy to create a layout and add your companys text and whatnots. if you rather use the other companys drawing, I would still create a new layout (rightclick on the Layout tab and choose New layout) and set it up to suit you. MisterJingles Posted May 11, 2009 Author Posted May 11, 2009 Thanks Tiger Firstly, I work for an electrical consulting firm and we get existing drawings on which to do our own modifications. Typically site plans. So working with other peoples drawings is unfortunately unavoidable. Secondly, this drawing (of a beachfront) is very long and is divided into 10 layouts with a viewport on each showing certain sections of this beachfront. I need to plot each one individually on my own company plotframe as I mentioned, and also at a smaller size to what it was received since each layout currently has the viewport on an A0 plotframe. I hope Ive made it clearer and hope the answer remains the same. Must I use the xref function? I must still familiarise myself with that. Thanks again Quote
Tiger Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 If you have to use the existing drawings then no, no need for xrefs. So you have 10 layouts that are all A0? and you want to make them 10 layouts at A1? It's only possible if you can change the scale. I would still make new layouts though, you can have up to 256 layouts I believe so the number is no problem. New Layouts, with your own plot frame and viewports set to a different scale than the A0-drawings. Quote
MisterJingles Posted May 11, 2009 Author Posted May 11, 2009 Ok Ill see how I do with that. Thanks a stack sir Quote
