cutting list is it possible

Hi i was wandering if i did a drawing of a cabinet for example is it possible to generate a cutting list from the cad drawing, if so how would you go about it or is it a stupid question :oops: , anyone know.

If you have normal AutoCAD then I'd say no, not without some real clever programming I suspect...

 

With other packaged, like Revit, it is very possible.

Nope......Its still plain Jane Autocad.

To be able to create a cutting list the program has to a parametric modeler like inventor, revit and solidworks.

Vanilla 2010 may have this.

 

Although I would maybe concider using dynamic blocks and dataextraction.

That just popped into my head just there.

Yep, if this is something that needs to be done on a regular basis - I have a feeling that it can be done with attributes and data extraction and/or a lisp or two.
