Ryder76 Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 Is this a joke? If not, do you really expect us to take your test for you? Quote
Trish Posted May 21, 2009 Author Posted May 21, 2009 No,i do not expect you to do it for me. Asking for assistance only.Im not too confident with the answers i have to a few of these questions. If you could help me out with at least 1, would appreciate it.Thank you. Quote
ReMark Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 Trish: Welcome to CADTutor. The website for CAD Homework Helper is.... Honestly, it would be unfair of us to provide you with the answers to your questions because we would then have to turn around and do that for all the other students who visit CADTutor. We would spend so much time answering these questions there would be little time left to assist people with their problems. You, the student, are responsible for paying attention in class, taking notes, doing the reading, the assignments (drawings), and answering any questions whether they be for homework, a pop quiz or a test. Many of us have "been there and done that" and we really do not want to repeat our school days. If you have questions regarding drawing/editting objects then we are ready, willing and able to assist but homework is a "no-no". Sorry. P.S. - Your textbook or any good after-market book about AutoCAD will have the answers to your questions. Quote
ReMark Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 A really resourceful person can answer the questions by using the power of any good search engine like Yahoo or Google. There are a myriad of AutoCAD related websites available. Quote

Trish Posted May 21, 2009 Author Posted May 21, 2009 It's alrite buddy. I am not a student following CAD classes from anywhere. if I did,I probably would clear my doubts there .I've read books on it though n learn a bit here and there from the net.Unfortunately i am in a position to sit for an exam, which i wasn't expecting, I do my drafting manually, without the help of AutoCad. However i have been told that i will have to sit through a AutoCad exam to start working as manual draftsman. Some concept that is.Anyhow I dot understand what you mean.I'll just go through some more notes on cad. Thank you anyway :)God bless. Quote
Ryder76 Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 Are you saying that you have to take this test in order to get a job as a manual drafter? It's really unsual for anyone to draft manually anymore. Unless it is a quick sketch in the field. I used to walkdown piping systems and sketch up piping & instrumet diagrams and/or Isometric drawings. Quote
ReMark Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 Trish: Do you have any AutoCAD related manuals or books at your disposal? Do you know the version of AutoCAD the company uses? Having worked on the board (pencil on vellum and ink on mylar) I see no reason to be answering CAD related questions to do manual drafting. Quote
Ryder76 Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 You can always go to the public library and look at an ACAD for Dummies book. There will be lots of info in there. They may even have an old ACAD text book. These answers are applicable for versions all the way back to at least Release 9 (1989?). Quote
ReMark Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 Remember what I said about finding the answers on the Internet. Here's an example. It's the only one I'll be supplying. If you can type, and your can ask questions, then you can find the information you require. Seek and ye shall find. http://www.ncsu.edu/project/graphicscourse/gc/acadtut/array5.html Quote

I am a student, jus completed my 2nd year in Interior Designing. We have not been introduced to CAD as yet. However i was offered to take up a job which be my internship . I would be doing manual drafting for the office. Quote
Ryder76 Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 Trish, I would explain to the person doing the hiring that you have no education or experience with AutoCAD as yet and that you will be taking in the future(if that is correct). Let them decide if they are willing to hire you without the knowledge in the short term. You can't do a thing when you don't know how. The person that gave you that test may be clueless about AutoCAD and is just doing it as an instruction from the person that really needs the position filled. At any rate you may want to continue your job search for your internship. Usually the school is willing and able to help place you in a Co-op positon. That's what I did - I Co-oped for a company called Bechtel. Great experience - I had worked for them before I went to school but not as a drafter/Cad Operator. Good luck and don't be afraid to tell the truth or ask for what you really want. Regards, Ryder76 Quote
