Force block layer change?

Recommended Posts

Hi all.

Ive got a bunch of dwg's that i recieved from an architect. The major problem is, that blocks have blocks inside it, and even more blocks and attributes inside that block. The problem is turning off the layers of all these blocks, without going trough hours of block editing and layer changing. If i try to change the layer of a block, it will obviously just change the first block in that block three, and none of the attributes or other blocks. Is there any way to force all blocks, attributes etc. to change layer in a more simple and less time consuming way?

By the way, im not a hardcore autocad user, and just started using autocad again after a few years break, so a simple solution would be lovely:)

Layfrz->Settings->Block selection

  • Block: Turns off the layers of selected objects. If a selected object is nested in a block, the layer containing that block is turned off. If a selected object is nested in an xref, the layer of the object is turned off.
  • Entity: Turns off layers of selected objects even if they are nested in an xref or a block.
  • None: Turns off the layers of selected objects. If a block or an xref is selected, the layer containing that block or xref is turned off.

Thank you for a quick answer!

Is it possible to change layer of the selected blocks in a similar way you are describing? It would be nice to stick all the block and xref's to one layer.
