aussihammer Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 I am inserting a title block and other drawings into a drawing. I try to explode my title block so it is no longer a block. Once exploded, its seems to have exploded every line in my title block. Is there any reason for this as before it would only explode it to the level i wanted which was just so that it was part of the drawing. Quote
NH3man! Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 Why explode? Edit your block or fill in attributes while inserting. Quote
aussihammer Posted May 26, 2009 Author Posted May 26, 2009 cos i need to edit the details in it. What do you suggest i edit or fill in attributes? It never used to do it either, it must be the new program. Quote
NH3man! Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 I tend to never explode. I would go with edit block in place. Quote
NH3man! Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 Select your block in your drawing and right click. The option to edit should be there. Quote
alijahed Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 If you want to redesign it, what I would suggest is, Explode it, then play around, do changes add/remove Attributes or whatever... and then again use Block command and re-save it on the same block name. If those changes not necessary then double click on the block and refill the texts. another option is, if you want to do some changes in your Attributes, go to Modify>object>attribute>Block Attribute Manager and if you use several times that block in the drawing for synchronizing them use the "attsync" command to synchronizing them. phobos Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 if it is just for editing the block I prefer to use _bedit or _refedit instead of explode. Quote
Commandobill Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 It's not the explode command that's your problem it's your block. Although i don't condone exploding blocks for any reason what you could do is make your border a block then put that block inside the block that is your title block with symbols and all. that would stop it from exploding all the lines along with it. But as i said there's always a better way than exploding your block Quote
rkent Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 Simply open the title block.dwg file, edit there. It shouldn't be a block just objects, attributes, etc. When you insert that title drawing into a drawing it will be a block. After making changes, save or saveas depending on what you are after. Quote
