bkreitzer Posted June 2, 2009 Posted June 2, 2009 A client has given us a lot of PDF's to work with - quite a headache. I'm trying to bring them into Autocad as TIFF's, but th e results are unreliable. I've dragged and dropped as well as saved as TIFFs from Adobe. Any suggestions? Quote
Cad64 Posted June 2, 2009 Posted June 2, 2009 What do you mean by "the results are unreliable"? What exactly are you trying to do with these tif's? If you drag and drop, the tif will come into Autocad as an OLE object which is probably not what you want. Try using the IMAGEATTACH command. Quote
bkreitzer Posted June 2, 2009 Author Posted June 2, 2009 In attempting to add images to the drawings, the new additions must be repeatedly brought to the front of the white page. Alternatively, WIPEOUT can be used to create a space to place an image but this is not always practical. Ultimate goal is to use the now-ammended drawings for electrical additions. Quote
MRAKA Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 I would go back to your client and ask for the DWG's. I have worked with TIffs and PDF's for years and they are a pain in the neck! Quote
bkreitzer Posted June 3, 2009 Author Posted June 3, 2009 I agree. Problem is, all the originals were hand drawn - they've been scanned in and we get the pdf's. I've tried a converter, but it only works on vector pdf's, not raster. Quote
MRAKA Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 Can you trace over them in CAD then delete them? I know in CAD 2010 you can attach pdf's , which you snap to and even turn layers on and off! Another solution is to get GTX raster CAD bolted on to CAD. This is what I have used for many years to attached raster images / tiffs / cals etc. With this you can modify the image and do lots of things with it. Goodluck AndrewR Wales Quote
