blackjsc Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 To start, I am not sure if what I am going to ask is possible, but after reading through some of the posts, I think I'm in the right place to find out. I have created a dynamic block of a crane and I would like to link a spreadsheet to the block. As well, I would like to create a custom menu that would allow me to choose a variety of options for the block. The menu would need to link to the spreadsheet and the block to allow for outputs based on the option(s) chosen. The goal being to choose a crane configuration, radius, etc, and then have the output of a capacity based on the spreadsheet. Any insight would be much appreciated. Quote
ReMark Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 This here is what they call a "bump". Sorry I can't help you but let's see if on a second go around you get at least one valid response. And BTW...Wwelcome to the CADTutor forum. Maybe it's just a slow day around here. Here goes nothing.................................................... Quote
JerryG Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 Try this - Select your block and hit "Ctrl 1" to bring up properties then select "Extended Data" (on right) Click "Hyperlink" and select the file you want to link to. Now when a user scrolls over the block a icon will show that shows the block is linked. To open the link you simply hold down the Cntrl key and click the block Hope that helps! Quote
JerryG Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 Hmm.... after reading your post again I think that this only gets you part of the way there. Since this will not change any variables in the block. Sorry Quote
blackjsc Posted June 5, 2009 Author Posted June 5, 2009 Thanks for the responses and the warm welcome. After a little more thinking and experimenting, I think what would be the most useful would be if anyone knows a way to import an Excel spreadsheet, or part of an Excel spreadsheet into a lookup table. It wouldn't be exactly what I was looking to do, but it would be a start. I think to make this thing work like I want it to some more intense programming will be required. So, long story short, if anyone knows how to import columns from an Excel spreadsheet into a lookup table, you would be my hero. Quote
