laptop vista 64 bit autocad 09 crashes while rendering/saving...

Hi just want to ask if anybody have any idea why its crashing because my wife is rendering her project saddenlly it crashes/close the program. also her laptop is vista 64 intel centrino 2 4gb ram do we need to upgrade the memory to 8gb?

The up grade will help, also make sure that you have the latest service pack installed.

 

I remember reading about this issue in the update files.

Does the laptop have a dedicated graphics card or does it rely upon an integrated chip? What else is running in the background during the rendering process? Has the temporary Internet file folder been cleaned out recently? How much free space is available on the hard drive?

integrated chip, only the autocad is running nothing else, 194gb hdd i'll keep an update.

 

The integrated chip may be the problem. What are the properites of the Chip?

An integrated graphics chip does works fine for spreadsheets, word processing, email, searching the Internet and other mundane tasks. But as soon as you start trying to push rendering then it is going to bog down and resort to stealing from system memory (RAM) to complete the process. This is where things will start to get dicey and in some cases a crash will occur. Can this laptop be fitted with a dedicated graphics card?
