Attila The Gel Posted June 9, 2009 Posted June 9, 2009 Hello, I was wondering if there was a way to xref a couple of layers from any drawing? (and maybe even renaming them)? There's a drawing with 100 of layers and I just need a few of them in my current drawing. and there layer names are all codes, to be able to rename them would be great without losing there reference. using Acad 2007 now but moving to 2009 in a week. thx. ReMark Posted June 9, 2009 Posted June 9, 2009 I don't think it is possible to selectively xref elements of a drawing such as individual layers. Why not consider WBlocking out the layers you want to xref in the first place. Change their names from a code to whatever suits your needs and save under a new drawing name. Then xref in the new drawing. If I'm wrong someone will correct me and educate us both at the same time. Quote
Attila The Gel Posted June 10, 2009 Author Posted June 10, 2009 Thx, I thought so, It would have been great if it were possible to just select the Xref-layers you want ON/OFF in your drawing from within the 'EXTERNAL REFERENCE PALLET'. (perhaps in a tree view from the xref itsself or an X-Layer-manager). Also 'X.REF PALLET' gives you the possibility to rename DWF and other attachments whilst keeping the filename original. so why not with Layers. The layer properties manager works but not like I would have wanted. And the reason for all this is that the person who manages the drawing I need to refer to, Horrorizes it entirely, its like a half dead wood in there, a construction that nobody cares about, a re-written/ordered alphabet system, a zip in your nose or ear, standing in the rain forever without an Umbrella-ella-ella-ella-∞ I'm sorry I just don't like it when its to messed-up!
