One of my customers is telling me that you can't configure a HP 650 ( B&W ) Designjet on Vista. Has anyone been able to do this? He said HP doesn't make driver. If true this is a true shame. -David

I have vista on my laptop and installed an hp printer, they dont make a driver for vista but there was a nice long confusing pain in the butt work around that after a few tries i got to work. If you go to the website for hp and look for the driver for vista it should give you instructions on the work around

These people claim their product will work with Vista and your series 600 HP inkjet:

Someone else, at another website, suggested using the drivers for the DesignJet 430. Not sure of the reasoning behind that.

I searched the HP site. Yep, no support for the DJ650 under Vista. You're out of luck. Could not find any "work around" instructions either.

Ill check my laptop tonight and see if i might have saved the instructions some where. still might want to look at other options

Thanks guys. What a shame and sham.

HP's recommendation ( of coarse)

If you are using the new Windows Vista operating system on your PC, you may want to consider an upgrade to a newer HP product that will work with Microsoft’s new Vista operating system.

I would think just about any generic HPGL2 or PCL5 would give it some operability in the work around. -David.

From an Autodesk Thecnical Support page:
"Other important considerations when finding a driver, is to consider the type of printer you
have, the AutoCAD version, and the Operating System version.
For example, you would need a specific driver for an HP DesignJet 200 plotter for AutoCAD 14 in Windows NT.
In Other words, this particular driver would probably not work for an other HP DesignJet plotter model running in AutoCAD 2000 in other Windows version".
