MisterJingles Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 Hi guys For some reason when I trim the end of a line it often leaves sections of the bit to be trimmed behind. If I click the very end, it doesnt trim all way back to the line I need it to trim to. If I click the base of the line segment to be trimmed then it leaves the end bit. Do I have it on the wrong setting? Ie Edge, Fence etc? I presume so as its only started happening fairly recently. Any help? Quote
MisterJingles Posted June 12, 2009 Author Posted June 12, 2009 Not to worry, I answered my own question. I changed the setting to Edge and its working fine. Im actually quite embarrassed so perhaps Admin could remove this topic Quote
Tiger Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 We like the questions that the OP answer themselves, means the rest of us can take a break And since you were so kind and added the solution, if someone searches for this very problem in the future, and find this thread, they'll find your solution - so the thread stays Quote
MisterJingles Posted June 12, 2009 Author Posted June 12, 2009 Ok fair enough. Ill just live with the embarassment. In that case, to add more value to the solution, I cannot seem to work out which setting I had activated. Do you know? Quote
Tiger Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 I'd guess that it's the variable EDGEMODE that is messing with your head, from the Help (since it's friday and I'm lazy ) EDGEMODE (Quick Reference) Controls how the TRIM and EXTEND commands determine cutting and boundary edges. 0 - Uses the selected edge without an extensions 1 - Extends or trims the selected object to an imaginary extension of the cutting or boundary edge Lines, arcs, elliptical arcs, rays, and polylines are objects eligible for natural extension. The natural extension of a line or ray is an unbounded line (xline), an arc is a circle, and an elliptical arc is an ellipse. A polyline is broken down into its line and arc components, which are extended to their natural boundaries. Quote
CADDict Posted June 15, 2009 Posted June 15, 2009 Thank you! I've been trying to remember this command for quite some time, as one of my computers decided it wanted to reset this variable on its own. Quote
