when u create a multiline text u can insert a %%... symbol like %%D that displays a degree symbol. that will display the current date. I forgot how to do it and it will save me a bunch of time everyday if someone can enlighten me. Thanks for anyones help.

Try Rtext with a diesel expression. Been a really long time since I used it - I would have to learn it all over again if I didn't have fields.

Sorry, I was looking at your "join date" and saw 2009. I thought you were on 2009....

No fields in 2002.

i got it to work with rtext but when i opened the file this morning none of the date were there. like someone opened my file and deleted them. Do u know why this would happen?

I don't have a clue about that, but hopefully someone will come along soon and enlighten us both.

What layer was it on? Frozen or Locked?

How did you create your text?

I went to express tools, selected remote text; then, diesel. When the dialog box opened I pasted this in it:

$(edtime, $(getvar,date),DDD"," DD MON YYYY - H:MMam/pm)

It gives you---------------"Tue, 16 Jun 2009 - 10:07am"

You can edit the string to show what you want.

Got edtime from the help file under diesel functions.
