MS-S Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 I'm not sure what has happened, because I thought that I was familiar with how to bind an Xref into a drawing - I'm trying to bind my titleblock, but when I send it to my client, there is no titleblock showing. I open the Xref Manager, select the Xref'd titleblock, right-click, select "Bind", and can see that the Xref no longer appears in the list. It has been "bound" into the drawing, right? But no.... I've tried this five times now with no success - any ideas? Quote
luther4000 Posted June 24, 2009 Posted June 24, 2009 I would suggest a couple of things, check that you don't have any duplicate Block names that have the same name as the title block. Check also that the layer where the titleblock was is not Frozen/Off. You could type the command RENAME, it will show you a list of objects/blocks in the Drawing, if the Bound Titleblock is there it will show as a block (the name should be the name of the original XREF) so once you know the name you could try to reinsert it. hope this helps Quote
Zorg Posted June 24, 2009 Posted June 24, 2009 Give the xref a purge (under nested objects) and then try again. Quote
tzframpton Posted June 24, 2009 Posted June 24, 2009 This happens a lot. Best workaround I've found is to use eTransmit. Always gets 'em in there. Quote
MS-S Posted June 24, 2009 Author Posted June 24, 2009 Thanks, guys - I tried your suggestions, but with no success. It appears that eTransmit is indeed the way I'm going to have to go in this instance. Quote
jammie Posted June 27, 2009 Posted June 27, 2009 Is the title block xref'd directly into the drawing or through another dwg? Also any idea if the xrefs are attached or overlaid? I have found binding attached xrefs problematic at times Check out the Setvar XREFTYPE, it controls the default reference type when attaching or overlaying an xref Quote
decipherd Posted June 27, 2009 Posted June 27, 2009 Sounds like a typical AutoCAD issue! Although this might seem like a cop out, do you definitely need to send a DWG? I know that if the client has no reason to edit your drawings then it would probably be better to send a DWF or for less technically inclined clients.. a PDF. Quote

Yes, this drawing must be in .dwg format - it is understood that it may be edited or altered by his CAD technicians, if necessary. Quote
