daveyboyd Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 Hi, After managing to sort out my last problem I now have another one, when selecting anything or executing a command there is a deffinate delay with ACAD doing anything, its like it thinks about it first, quite annoying really, productivity is very slow as a result. Is there some settings/variables to turn off etc? I have updated my graphics drivers to latest version and turned system to performance mode. My system is: AMD Turion X2 Dual Core 2GHz 4 GB RAM DDR2 ATI Radeon HD 3650 512MB Graphics card. Thanks Dave Quote
Zorg Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 Your machine should be able to deal almost any drawing effortlessly. Does this happen with all drawings in AutoCAD2008 or just 1 or a select few? Z Quote
daveyboyd Posted June 18, 2009 Author Posted June 18, 2009 All drawings, seems I have the wrong settings or something, it is very annoying as I have to wait for everything to catch up. Quote
ReMark Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 When did the problem first occur? What might have changed? Software? Hardware? Are the drawings on a network? Quote
daveyboyd Posted June 18, 2009 Author Posted June 18, 2009 Ok, Drawings are on hard drive, hardware acceleration has been tried on and off (same) and it has always happened since I installed it! Quote
Zorg Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 Are the drawings on a network? I thought that would only effect the opening/saving times of drawings. Does it also slow editing down too? Quote
Zorg Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 All i can suggest is run a purge and audit on the drawings. If that does not cure the problem then copy them into a new DWG to ensure that it is a software issue and not the file itself. Lets eliminate one possibility. Quote
ReMark Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 Is the OS you're using a secret? Sounds like the problem has 1) been around since ADT 2007 was first loaded and 2) affects all drawings. Please correct me if I am wrong. Up to date with service packs for 2007? Quote
daveyboyd Posted June 18, 2009 Author Posted June 18, 2009 Sorry, missed that question, I am running ACAD 2008 on a Vista 32bit system. It wasn't an upgrade from 2007 as the laptop is only about 4 months old so it a fresh install. It seems to hang when selecting stuff or deselecing stuff (pressing escape) also finding snap points, dunno if this helps . . . Quote
ReMark Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 Try turning off running object snaps. Per AutoDesk... "Running object snaps require the dynamic recalculation of the OSNAP location, which can cause cursor movement to experience delays, or cause your system to appear unresponsive." Quote
ReMark Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 What is the system variable SELECTIONPREVIEW set to? Quote
