Hi all,

I'm new to forum and trying to get my head around 3d Autocad modeling. I was working a bit on 3ds max a while ago, now im doing most of my stuff in sketchup.

Now, straight to the point: there is something weird happening with my grip tool. It's really bugging me - I spent few hours already trying to solve it.

Im modeling a capping stone on the top of permiter wall. I'm fallowing a sketchup logic to do so. Im preparing a simple box, then i'm drawing a verge line on top of it and imprinting. Then im elevating verge line - everything works perfectly.

Things get complicated when i want to do my corner capping stone. I'm preparing two boxes, unioning them and imprinting verge to the solid. Now the grip tool doesn't work for this particular solid, but it's not working for any new solid in this drawing (even a simple box).

Grip tool works perfectly in new opened drawing untill I fallow procedures listed above.

Is there any error or bug in my model? Any ideas how to solve it?

This info will be helpful for in roof modeling part aswell.

Thanks for any input and advice.

PS. I'm using autocad 2007

If you are using a sketchup method rather than an autocad method, you may find that when using sketchup you can draw on virtually any face. Unfortunately Autocad does not work like this. You have to alter the position of the ucs icon in order to specify which face and direction you wish to draw in.

My best tip would be to explore the 3point ucs command, and set up the ucs so that you can draw the end of the cap stone. after this you can use the sweep or extrude command to follow the path of the wall.

Let me know how you get on.

Hi Stevie,

Thanks for your reply! Yeah - I got the idea - basicly its extruding along the path - trying to do so in the moment.

Its just this grips that still dont work. I'm hovering over an edge holding ctrl key. But stil cant move the edge of the solid even if correct ucs is defined.

Thanks a lot!
