CAnnondale Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 Hi Guys, Its me again. I was wondering if in AI is there a similar SLICE command that AutoCAD has. The reason why I ask this was, I was doing some pipe sort of drawing that needs to sliced in different sections. Would appreciate again your assistance on this matter. I am currently using AI 2009, and just a newbie. Please see below image of the object. #1 AutoCAD 2009 drawing #2 AI 2009 drawing Thanks, Cannondale Quote
shift1313 Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 if you slice a solid part(as far as i know) it will not create two separate solids. What you can do is use a plane or draw a surface(extrude, sweep or loft a line, not a closed sketch) and use this to Trim your solid. Quote
JD Mather Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 Split in Inventor is the equivalent of Slice. Make sure you use the Part option rather than Face. If r2009 or earlier do the slice, Save Copy As and reverse the remove direction and Save or learn to use Derived Components. R2010 supports multi-body solids. Quote
