dynamic parameter instead of design table

Is there a way to define a part so the length of the part is specified when inserted into an assembly. In this case I'm using some notched 2x4 for a workbench, and yes I only have a couple of different length, so it is simple to create a design tabel, I was just wondering if there is a way to do it.

I can create a property manager which then let me select the configuration at the time the part is inserted into the assembly, but I cant find anywhere in the help if it is possible to have e.g. the length being a user entered value instead of a predefined value from a design table.

Look into DriveWorks. I believe DriveWorksXpress is included with all SW. the full driveworks I believe is an additional purchase.
