Noob Need Help - Convert DWG to Metric

I have no desire to learn how to use AutoCAD 2010. However, I have house plans created using imperial units. I need to easily convert everything to metric once and I will never need to use AutoCAD again in my life.

Line lengths are in the format (example): 6'-10 1/4"

I want the text to display as (example): 209 cm

How can I do this? I was able to successfully do as prescribed in the online help, but the length text still shows imperial. Please tell me there is an easier way (automagic method) other than manually editing all the displayed text...

you could change the units of the drawing. type UNITS then change it to suit. give that a try.

if it is just for the purposr to diplay dimension in mm, you can use method 'show alternate dimension' in current dimension style. & you can see both the dimensions without having to scale the drawing.

I typed Units at the command line, a window popped up. I changed it from Architectural to Decimal, then did the conversion as per my OP (online help). Still displays imperial fractions.

sorry i dont quite understand what your asking. is it the dimensions on your drawing that are imperial?

I am pretty sure this is the solution I want. I found the drop-down and changed it to each of the other 8 or so options. The text size changes, but still imperial units.

Oh, I am a failure. If only I had budgeted for bullets... Is there something else I need to do?

Enter a scale factor of 2.54 (there are 2.54 centimeters per inch).

All objects in the drawing are now 2.54 times larger, corresponding to the equivalent distance in centimeters.

MrRee, when I have to, which is seldom, this works for me.

ok, here is what u need to do.

open original unscaled drawing

go to format > dimension style> do the dialoguebox will pop up>

select the current dimension style & click on 'modify' button, than another dialoguebox wil pop up

tick 'dispaly alternate units & slect decimal & other relavent things in the dialoguebox & ok

it should show what you want

THANK YOU! I have stepped away from the ledge. Exactly what I want. There are some measurements in "MTEXT" which I think I will have to do manually, but this is the biggest step by far.
