MisterJingles Posted July 17, 2009 Posted July 17, 2009 Hi guys I need to turn off a layer but unfortunately certain objects(blocks) which I need to work with also dissapear when I turn that layer off. The confusing thing is that those objects when selected appear to be on the layer which is still turned on. These objects, in their Properties, are listed as Block References. Does that mean that the ..... Ok I just tried something. I did a Block Edit and in there is showed me that the object is on the wrong layer. So my problem is solved. But this leads me to another question... Does it mean then that I cannot move a Block which was created on a particular layer, to another layer? Must that ALWAYS be done in Block Editor? Thanks Rob Quote
GE13579 Posted July 17, 2009 Posted July 17, 2009 I think you're asking if it's possible to change the block outside BE? Draw your block on layer 0, then when you insert it, it will take on the properties of the layer that you insert it on. Quote
JoeC Posted July 17, 2009 Posted July 17, 2009 You can also try the LAYWALK command (layer walk) to see the different layers that your blocks have nested inside of them. I find this quite useful when investigating layer issues. Quote

Draw your block on layer 0, then when you insert it, it will take on the properties of the layer that you insert it on. Always the best method i find. If you do so, also set everything in the block to by layer so that your layer will denote what colour it will be, save alot of hassel and is good drawing management Quote
