Moving the Ribbon to the left hand side of the screen

Is there any way of putting the ribbon on Vanilla 2010 on the side of the screen rather than the top of the screen?

I know you can minimise the depth of the ribbon, but thats just a pain in the backside for me.

Bring back the dashboard.

you would need to set system variable LOCKUI to a value of 0; then right click on the ribbon and select Undock; then just drag it to wherever you want it to be.

At least, that's what I've just tried in 2009.

That worked a treat.
