cmjay83 Posted July 23, 2009 Posted July 23, 2009 Hi I have created an assembly and want to put it through simulation express on solidworks 2009 premium. But it says I have to run basic motion. I have tried this in the motion study but it still doesn't work? I'm not that up on the basic motion or animation so any advice would be very helpful. Thanks Quote
shift1313 Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 At the bottom of your assembly window there are a few tabs. Model when you are in modeling, and Motion Study. These are the basic motion studies. When you click on one there is a timeline that opens up as well as a smaller model tree with other things in it like orientation/camera. The drop down box on the left has Animation, Basic Motion and Motion Analysis. Basic motion or Motion Analysis are what you need to run. To do this you will nee to apply forces, contacts, motors etc to your assembly. Basic mates applied in the context of the assembly apply here but advanced mates dont. For instance if you did an advanced gear mate in your assembly it will rotate one gear in relation to another one based on a mathematical ratio. In a motion study you are actually basing motion of contact forces(the cam/lobe icon next to the apple). The red lines i have from left to right are, motor, spring, damper, force(linear), contact, and gravity. Quote
