How can I put something into a layer

I have an outline of a house that I forgot to put into a layer.

How would I put it into a layer?

If the layer already exists, make sure the layer toolbar is open, select the things that you want to place on a different layer, and click the drop down and select the layer you want it on.

Or select the item to change layers, open properties and find the layer, select a new layer and there it goes.

If the layer does not yet exist, use the layer manager toolbar and define the new layer and do as above.
