Special Shape 3d punch face problem

Hello everyone,

I am having a problem and I have searched all CAD related forums but could not get what I was looking for. Cad tutor is something I started using recently and found it really helpful. Also I have a basic/medium knowledge of Autocad. I am using Autocad2009. Attached are some pictures. I am unable to extrude the face at 20 degree to a point.

Pic1 is the rendered 3d shape that I can get from Autocad, pic2 is the 2D pdf and pic3 is a (similar type of part) microscopic picture and if you look at the face, this is the face I need in my 3d Autocad.

I am not sure if I have explained what I need, but I can send the actual DWG files if any one wants to have a look.

Also I am not sure what command or process to use, I have tried solidedit, extract edges, loft, extrude, presspull etc.

Slice via surface could work. create a line at the center tip @ 20deg, then revolve it to create a surface, then use it to slice off the top to give you that 20deg tip. i hope its clear? ill try to come up with a pic to show

First of all sorry for delay as I went on holiday next day I sent this post. Thank you very much for the reply. I tried surface slice but it says can't select surface. And if I draw solid cone instead of revolved surface then it says can't slice surface. There may be a simple point which I am missing but since morning I am trying and couldn't get what I want. Zine if you don't mind can I send you cad file to put the face on as you described for this time only as I have to submit this drawing tomorrow.

Whoops, is this for a school project? if so i cant help by doing it myself, I can only give a guide on how to do it.

its odd if it cant select the surface, revolving the line will definitely give you a surface as shown.

Not for School mate, I am 40 years old and work for a company. I was just given this punch drawing to do and I started using Autocad couple of months ago and since I had IT (sys admin) background I managed to do 2-D without any problem and nearly done the 3-d except the face. When I said submit, it means submitting to production for CNC programming. Hope it clears.

When I try to slice it, it says not solid. And when I use solid (cone) it says can't slice surface. Thanks for your help.

I think i got a fix on your problem, the object you created must be a solid for it to be sliced. I think the objects in the Image you posted are 3d faces/ surfaces.

Extrude the section of the tip, make sure its a closed polyline so it will be a solid when extruded.

err. if your still having trouble post the drawing, ill do a quick run about it

Thanks for understanding, I am attaching two drawings, Just check which one is suitable for slicing face as you recommended. Drg1 is more realistic to final shape but special shape is not solid. Dwg2 has got solid special face. Please change the extension of Dwg2 from zip to rar before opening as with zip it was going over the 250k limit.

Transform the surface into a solid then slice it.

What a star! Thank you very much for your help. This is the exact shape I was looking for, I just have to put the inner solid back in, hope I manage to put it back without disturbing the shape.
