When ever autosave does its thing, its makes saves about 2 or 3 times. it gets really annoying and locks me up for a second. Especially because Im saving onto a server so its even slower.

Go into the Options dialog box and change it. Options > Open & Save > File Safety Precautions > Automatic Save. Set the number up

Not sure why it would save multiple times since I see no option for doing so. You can kill AutoSave and just train yourself to save on a frequent enough basis so you won't have to redo large portions of your drawing should the power go out or some such catastrophe.

If you have MS Outlook create a calendar notation that says Time to save the drawing Mike! Set it to start 30 minutes after you begin your day. When it pops up save your drawing then set it to "snooze" for 15 minutes (or whatever time interval you're comfortable with). Each time it pops up repeat the routine.

Autosave doesn't save 2 or 3 times when it fires.

Maybe it just feels like it. Do you have unnecessary items in the drawing that can be purged like blocks, scale list entries, layer filters, etc? If your drawing is clogged up with unneeded items - it will take longer to save, whether it's a QSAVE or autosave.

When did the problem first occur?

If AutoSave was saving more than two or three times consecutively, as you claim, then you could tell by looking in Windows Explorer at the Date Modified for both the DWG and BAK file. Have you compared the two?

Unless of course you have AutoCAD set up to save to two different locations. Do you?

Do you have AutoPublish enabled?

OK, maybe I should have said "Maybe it just looks like it."

I have never seen this or heard of it. There is no reason for it to happen on one out of millions of installs. Is everything else normal? Like you have full R/W access to the autosave location? Is the autosave file is getting written to disk correctly? Does it only appear to do this on certain drawings? Change the autosave location to a local directory, does it still seem to occur? Set SAVETIME to 1 and open a new empty drawing, draw a line then wait ±60 seconds to test.
