Zorg Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 Hey guys, I've got a new machine, i've installed the same version of autocad as i had on my last one but now the 30 day trial has ended i can no longer use it! I take it i cannot just take my licence key from my current working autocad and copy it onto the new one can i? Thanks in advance! Quote
ReMark Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 I think you will have to call AutoDesk to register/activate your copy of AutoCAD. They should provide you with the 64-character activation code as long as everything is on the up-and-up. It is, isn't it? Quote
ReMark Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 From AutoDesk FAQ re: Activation. 7. What if I want to use the software on a new computer? "If you upgrade or replace your computer, for most Autodesk products you can simply transfer your license using the Portable License Utility, or, in many cases, you will be able to reactivate your software on the new computer." I'm curious why you downloaded and installed a 30-trial version of the software rather than just load your copy of AutoCAD and transfer the license or at least attempt to activate it normally? Quote

Cheers ReMark, very helpful as always! I didn't! my boss did, there wasn't enough time to migrate licences! I'll do it tomorrow! Thanks again. Quote
ReMark Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 It is my opinion that your boss should do boss-like work and leave computer and CAD-related tasks in your capable hands. Quote
Zorg Posted August 14, 2009 Author Posted August 14, 2009 I'm not paying for another licence if i were to screw it up! hence the hesitation and uncertainty. Quote
ReMark Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 Are you adverse to contacting AutoDesk to get some clarification on the matter? Quote
