tommerino Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 Hi all, Ive just joined up but have been using this site for a few weeks now as my company has given me the job of converting all of our standard details into dynamic blocks, which is great, apart from the fact that I have only just started getting into them myself! I have a question if anyone can help? I want to know how to constrain the end point of a line so that it always lies somewhere along the length of another line? I basically have a component that is a rectangle with an angled top, so when the pitch of that angle is changed using a rotate action, i need the pitched line to stretch itself so the end point is still in contact with the line that it was on originally, albeit in a different point on that line. I cant seem to attach a drawing for illustration but i have one here if anyone can tell me how to post it! I know this is probably simple stuff but i am just learning and am trying to start with the basics!! thanks very much, tom Quote
tommerino Posted August 13, 2009 Author Posted August 13, 2009 attached is a simplified version of what im after, without any dynamic elements! Thanks again tom Tomblock.dwg Quote
dbroada Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 your problem may be that very few of the dynamic block players have moved to 2010 which was when restraints came along. It is a feature I would like to explore but my machine is not up to it and our parent company don't want us to move from 2008 so it could be several years before I see them. Quote
stevsmith Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 Yes, as Dave says the constraints didn't come in untill 2010. I had a similar question though where GE13579 managd to achieve a similar situation using chain links within the block editor of 2009. http://www.cadtutor.net/forum/showthread.php?t=38341 Quote
