DWG Destroyer Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 Something I have found in ACAD 2009; purging in paper space will remove not only unused blocks but existing blocks also! Model space purging runs as normal, but when in paper space the purge command takes blocks being used and deletes them too. In our drawing template file we have two blocks and a set of attributes nested within a main title block. On purging, the nested blocks get deleted yet the attributes and main title block remain. Only the nested blocks go, so I am left with a title block that does not show anything but the attributes within it. On interrogation of the main title block ACAD detects it as a recognized block in the block editor but although it appears with a block reference number there is no preview window unlike any other block would present. The nested blocks within it have disappeared from the block editor entirely, indicating they have been removed from the drawing. I've checked this glitch over many drawings in the office, all with the same outcome. Ensured all layers are thawed, turned on etc and drawings were recovered/ audited still to no avail. The same task was performed in ACAD 2008, of which 2008 ran flawlessly. Furthermore, it seems that this is a selective glitch, affecting only half of the copies of 2009 in our office. Some run without a problem, some don’t. These are freshly installed with no tampering of any sort, so why are we getting different results, any why is AutoCAD deleting things it shouldn’t be?! Quote

DWG Destroyer Posted August 18, 2009 Author Posted August 18, 2009 Whoops! I did visit the Autodesk site and download them but in my haste i must have slipped up somewhere along the way. Our IT guy resolved it this morning by ensuring the proper installment and now all works fine. Thanks! Quote
