Why is it that a 300kb DWG file (A1 sheet) sent to the plotter will spend only a minute or so spooling before it prints, but a 180kb PDF of this dwg will take over half an hour to choke its way onto paper?? Something is definately amiss...

I am on subscription but the IT guy is on leave today so will have to wait. Still, I don’t believe this pack is going to be the answer, as surely people without subscriptions would then be left to suffer? Perhaps it’s just a problem within our office, but no one here is fond of pdfs because of this problem.

Wait, so are you trying to print a dwg with a pdf inserted as an underlay, or are you just trying to print a pdf?

What type of printer are you sending the files to?

Do you have the latest printer drivers installed?

Just trying to print a pdf created from a dwg that prints perfectly. I cant understand why the pdf struggles so badly? Sending to a HP Designjet 1050c Plus plotter and to the best of my knowing, yes it is up to date. We have two of them and they both struggle with pdf plotting but not dwgs. Something to do with spooling because dwgs shoot through whilst pdfs are swallowing up all of the memory. I've noticed the A3 HP Laserjet 5100tn playing up at times too, but again, only with those troublesome pdfs!

Could you post the pdf here, I have an HP1050C so I could see if I get the same results.
