DWG Destroyer Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 Hey, Something that’s been bothering me over the past few weeks; AutoCAD's persistent habit of alerting the user with a loud beep on error. Bearing in mind that the tick box in the options is deselected, meaning it shouldn’t be making any noise when such errors are made. Furthermore, the only time ACAD (2009) beeps is when I invoke a macro. The last time this happened my computer would not stop beeping, and I had to end program on ACAD without saving. Not sure what’s happening, and seeing as it’s a disturbance to the rest of the office I’d much like to just silence ACAD permanently. At least this way when it happens next I might be able diagnose the problem without the rush to reinstate the peace. Any thoughts? Quote
Lee Mac Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 Could be that someone has used the prank I created in this thread: http://www.cadtutor.net/forum/showthread.php?t=39119 Quote
DWG Destroyer Posted August 18, 2009 Author Posted August 18, 2009 Not a faulty keyboard, definitely matches the settings described above and no, I already sussed it might be a prank, sadly not though. Quote
ReMark Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 No mute button on your keyboard? Is there a volume icon in your task bar? If so, open it and mute everything then run another macro. What happens? Quote
Lee Mac Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 I don't think you can mute the piezo in the tower Quote
ReMark Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 I don't think you can mute the piezo in the tower You can with a pair of wire cutters! Quote
DWG Destroyer Posted August 18, 2009 Author Posted August 18, 2009 My system tray bears the muted speakers icon. Wire cutters it is then! Haha Quote
Lee Mac Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 After a bit of investigation, I think you may be able to mute it here: Quote
ReMark Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 This may be your next place to look: Start > Control Panel > Sounds, Speech and Audio Devices. Quote
Lee Mac Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 Yeah, you could always just switch it to "no sounds". Quote
DWG Destroyer Posted August 19, 2009 Author Posted August 19, 2009 I think this may have worked as I’m not getting a noise now, though I have been playing with my macro since then. I'll be sure to update if and when something happens... Quote
Lee Mac Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 If you post the macro here, maybe we can sort out if it has an error in it Quote
