JCastle Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 I have just migrated from 2008 electrical AutoCAD to 2009. Before I installed the new version I made a complete wipe on my system. I had Plotters saved on the my network. I dropped them into the appropriate folders after the install. Here is the problem: When I publish my PDF set (60 pages) only the first page of the set is published. The other 59 say they have been published and go without errors; but they are not part of the document. I have called tech support about this twice now today and they have not returned my call. Has anyone run into this problem and have a fix? Should I re-install 2008? Quote
ReMark Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 When you installed the new version did you also install the latest service pack? Are you on Subscription by any chance? Quote
JCastle Posted August 27, 2009 Author Posted August 27, 2009 Yes, I believe I am on subscription. I dont handle the contracts and such so I am not 100% sure. As far as the service packs... no, This is a clean install. Ill check the Autodesk website to see if there are available updates. Quote
ReMark Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 There should be a service pack for 2009. I asked about subscription because there was a bonus pack available specific to PDF's. Quote
JCastle Posted August 27, 2009 Author Posted August 27, 2009  Do I need to download all Updates (1,2 &3)or do I just need to download the latest? (#3) Quote
ReMark Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 The service pack for AutoCAD Electrical 2009 can be downloaded from here: http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/ps/dl/item?siteID=123112&id=11992831&linkID=9240737 Download just the latest version as it is cummulative. Quote
chelsea1307 Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 do you publish in background? Ive had lots of problems with that with 2009, not publishing in background works fine 95% of the time. Quote
chulse Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 I have had this problem with 2010. Setting PUBLISHCOLLATE = 0 seemed to fix it for me... Quote
chelsea1307 Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 PUBLISHCOLLATE - 0 means it will create multiple pdfs while PUBLISHCOLLATE - 1 will create one large pdf with multiple pages It could be that your system is running out of memory while contiually adding to the one big one, instead of being able to move on to the next one. I thought that might be it, but it happens even on small (2 sheet) files. Further, using an Adobe print driver (as opposed to the supplied DWG to PDF one) it works fine with PUBLISHCOLLATE set to 1. What's realy anoying is that my Adobe driver now will not print OLE objects... BTW ... I gave up on the "publish in the background' option completely... Quote
chelsea1307 Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 BTW ... I gave up on the "publish in the background' option completely... yup here too! people in my office dont like publish because they cant get it to work, even after telling them multiple times DO NOT PUBLISH IN BACKGROUND they continue to do it and have problems. So i get assigned to any large quantity of plots Quote
chulse Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 You could add (setvar "BACKGROUNDPLOT" 0) to the acad.lsp (assuming it's shared on a network drive for the whole department) ...I think I will do that right now! Quote

I need Publishcollate=1 I could set to zero and Bind all the PDF's in Adobe Pro but that is too time consuming. This function used to work without an issue in 08' I'm still installing service packs.... I will keep thread updated... Quote
chelsea1307 Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 unfortunately its not on a network they are all individual installs. Ive added it to mine but they are on their own Quote
chulse Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 If you are the cad manager, you could replace their ACAD.lsp with an updated one via a batch file... Quote

I have a long way to go to be high on the pole, this is one of those companies that people spend there careers at. Tom, one of the designer/drafters has been here for 30 yrs another two engineers have been here fo 20 the drafter above me has been here for 4 or 5 yrs and the cad manager is going on 9 yrs i just past my 1 yr mark in july, but hey everyone had to start sometime Quote
JCastle Posted August 27, 2009 Author Posted August 27, 2009 What print driver are you using? Could you try a different one? Same one I was using for 2008. Adobe PDF.pc3 It appears the service packs have fixed the problem. But now it has screwed up my screen display. One problem at a time I guess... Quote
