I want to add a paver to a walkway. On the borders I wish to use a soldiers course 8" long by 4" wide. After I create the 8" offset line, what is the correct procedure to array?

I would use the Retangle command and make one paver then I would use the Array command (rectangular arrary). I'd set my rows, for example, to 10 and my columns to 1. Then I would make row offset 4 and column offset 1. The angle of array I would leave at 0. Select the object. I'd hit the Preview button to see what I have created. If it looks good I'd accept the results by right-clicking.

The numbers you use will be dependent on the distance you have to cover.

Here's another option for your consideration. The previous post works fine if you have a rectangular path only. If your path has an odd shape, whist this is not the perfect solution, it does give you other options.

Draw the external outline as a Polyline (or use PEDIT to turn the objects into one). Make a Block of the Paver using one of the corners as the origin of the Block. Next use the MEASURE command using the block option and nominating the distance between the pavers. This will repeat the block allong the Polyline at the set distance.

Now, as you will appreciate, if the path is a curve, the blocks would overlap if it was an external curve or seperate if internal. With the external option, at least you have something to trace your cuts to whereas that option wouldn't exist on an internal curve. In that case you'd need to do your offset and turn it into an external curve.

Basically, you'll need to play with it, but it does give you another option to consider
