Plotting 2D .dxf files out as 3d correctly

Hi guys, i'm a trainee surveyor and at the moment am trying to work my way through a bunch of autocad 2010 tutorials and am a bit stuck.

Basically i survey power poles and boundaries and these are imported in .dxf format from another program. I have learned how to extrude 2d objects into 3d ones however i am having trouble extruding from a .dxf.

My main current problem is that i can only see my imported .dxf files in the Layout1 and Layout2 tabs, the Model tab is empty. Is there a layer option or something that i can't see? I am under the impression extruding only really works from the model tab, is this correct?

i have a few other questions but i'll leave them till later

nevermind, figured it out, put it into block editor mode

the file i've imported seems to have lost all it's attributes, it originally had heights etc, is there any way i can view these?

And is there any easy way to set the scale? Like for example if the top of a cylinder was 9.75 meters high how would i set the cylinder to be that tall.. if that makes sense, i've set the mode to surveyors, and the measurement is in mm but i cannot see any measurements besides what i assume is autocads standard scale.. I want to eventually be able to measure distances between poles and heights etc etc, but in a 3d environment.. so i need a way of inputting it to a scale

So i've figured this out now, cheers for the help, trial and error worked in the end, took a while tho lol
